A First Salary Celebration at O’ Mai Khan, Baguio

O' Mai Khan Restaurant

👩🏻‍💻Story

There’s something magical about your first paycheck. It’s that moment you feel like a true adult. You are ready to take on the world, or at least the next bill. My sister and I both recently landed jobs. Instead of spending the money on ourselves, we decided to treat the ones who raised us.

We brought our parents to O’Mai Khan, a cozy restaurant known for its Mongolian grill and hotpot. It was also a double celebration – our parents’ wedding anniversary. How’s that for a perfect family date?

That night was especially chilly – typical Baguio weather. The warm broth of the hotpot, the steaming tempura, and the joy of eating something special made the evening unforgettable.

We talked about our new jobs between bites. We discussed the culture shock of entering the workforce and shared our adulting anxieties. There was a lot of laughter over how fast life was moving. From students to young professionals, that meal was a small but powerful moment of transition.

☕ What We Ordered

We sampled their Mongolian hotpot and crispy tempura. The broth was rich and warming, and the ingredients fresh and satisfying. Nothing beats hot soup on a Baguio evening.

This wasn’t just a meal – it was a milestone. Our first act of gratitude is with our hard-earned money. A treat for our parents, and a celebration of stepping into adulthood.
