A Café, a Friend, and a New Chapter
There’s a certain kind of excitement that comes with meeting your best friend’s partner for the first time, like opening a new chapter in someone else’s story you’ve followed for years. That’s exactly how I felt when my friend called me up, saying, “I want you to meet him.”
We met at Picarre, a charming café tucked away in Baguio City. It’s known for its modern minimalist interiors, mountain breeze, and a cozy, thoughtful menu that features both hearty dishes and sweet delights.

The moment we sat down, the nerves slowly melted away. Conversations flowed naturally, some laughter, some retellings of stories I’d already heard (but this time, from both sides).
To settle our appetites, I ordered their Bagnet Iloco, a crispy slab of pork belly served with fresh vegetables and a punchy chili dip made from Iloco vinegar. It was savory, spicy, and just the right kind of messy to make you feel at home.
For drinks, I opted for the Strawberry Sensation, a refreshing blend that perfectly complemented the cool Baguio breeze. It felt like summer and comfort in a glass.
