Tam-Awan Chronicles: Art, Appetite, and an Unexpected Turn

👩🏻‍💻Story

Baguio’s charm is in its blend of culture and cool mountain air. One weekend, our family decided to take a quick road trip to Tam-awan Village, a reconstructed Cordilleran village that showcases indigenous huts, local art, and handcrafted pieces. The vibe? Rustic, peaceful, and deeply cultural.

As we strolled through the pathways, we were surrounded by galleries, view decks, and art installations that reflect Cordilleran heritage. It felt like walking through a living museum—quiet, scenic, and rooted in tradition.

🥗 What We Ordered at the Café

After the tour, we stopped at their quaint café and ordered pesto pasta and a garden salad. Surprisingly, the pesto was one of the best I’ve tried—perfectly seasoned, not oily, and the pasta was cooked just right. Paired with fresh greens, it was a simple yet satisfying lunch.

😅 A Funny (and Slightly Embarrassing) Moment

Now, here’s where the memory gets unforgettable. We usually don’t carry much cash, relying instead on our trusty cards. So when we confidently asked for the bill, we were told—“Cash only.” Uh-oh.

Cue a mini panic. My dad and sister dashed to the car to look for any stashed bills, while my brother and I awkwardly waited at the café, trying to look casual. Thankfully, they found just enough to cover our meal. Crisis averted! Lesson learned: always ask if they accept cards before ordering.
